Iconic symbol of shrine

Torii is the gate to enter the shrine and marks the boundaries of the shrine and the most iconic symbol of shrines. Just by looking at it, you will understand that there is a shrine.
The torii gates stands everywhere around us such as top of the mountain, water fall, in the sea. The reason why it stands everywhere based on the Japanese sense that the gods and the spirits exist everywhere around us.
When passing through the torii gate, take a bow and be careful not to walk in the center of the torii gate.
