Scent of Autumn
When the mornings and evenings are getting a little colder, the gentle scent of Fragrant Orange-colored Olive trees that reminds us of autumn is carried in the breeze as I walk along the streets of the city. Then, I stop and look up a little to look for the source of the scent. Am I the only one who feels a little happy when I find it?
Originally from China, it was brought to Japan as a roadside tree and for gardens, but only male plants were brought to Japan because they produce many flowers. On windy days, the wind-blown flowers fall like orange rain and color the ground.
There is a very large Fragrant Orange-colored Olive tree near my house, so I always open the windows of my room at this time of year and enjoy the autumn atmosphere.
