The seed-planter

kakesu
  • Kakesu | Eurasian Jay
  • This is a stylish and eye-catching bird with a feather pattern on its head and a part of its feathers that have a gradation of dark blue and white stripes. It is a resident bird that lives in the forest and is about the same size as a crow. They are omnivorous and eat anything, especially insects, but in the winter when food is scarce, they eat acorns that they have buried in advance. As is often the case with animals that bury acorns, beech and oak seedlings will sprout the following spring after forgetting or neglecting the place where they buried the acorns. Jays also play a role in the expansion of forests.
