Number of flowers = (number of branches splitting)3
Mitsumata is a plant native to China and the Himalayas that is used as a raw material for Japanese paper. Paper made from Mitsumata is resistant to abrasion, so it is used as a raw material for banknotes.
It is called Mitsumata because when the tree grows and the branches split, they split into three branches in three directions, and in spring, round yellow flowers bloom at the tips of the branches. It's a plant that looks like it could be turned into a math problem.
The flowers face downward, and if you look closely you can see small, cute flowers clustered in a hemispherical shape.
