The plump buds are lovely
The Sasanqua blooms from late autumn to early winter. It is often planted as hedges and its blooms remind us that winter has come.
It is very similar to Camellia, but can be distinguished by its earlier flowering period than camellia, different petal drop, and the fine hairs on Sasanqua branches, leaves, and buds.
It is characterized by falling petals.
The Sasanqua(left)has fine hairs on its leaves, twigs and buds, while the Camellia (right)has no hairs.
