Kometsuki-mushi | Click Beetle
Click Beetle returns to its original position from lying on its back. It is called the Click Beetle because of the sound it makes, but in Japan it is called by a slightly different name.
They are called "Kometsuki-mushi" because of the return motion resembles the process of removing the chaff when rice is polished, that is called "Kometsuki". In the past, rice was polished by poking it with a stick. Maybe jumping rices as it was poked look like jumping click beetles. This shows the deep relationship between rice and the Japanese people.
