For Peaceful Living
It is considered that roots of Shinto are ancient natural beliefs in which people worshipped the spirits of nature surrounding human life in order to live in peace. Gradually, shrines were established in places where gods or spirits dwell and Shinto was formed as a religion. There are so many shrines in Japan and there are various types.
While large shrines are overwhelming in their scale and majesty, there are also many simple shrines that have been carefully protected by the local community. Small shrines that have been built since ancient times in local village and mountain make us sense of the passage of time and the feelings that local people hold dear.
